BATS is the resident theatre society of Queens' College, Cambridge. BATS is one of the largest and most active drama societies in Cambridge. We are fortunate to have the use of one of the best theatres in Cambridge: the Fitzpatrick theatre is a modern, well-equipped venue with a capacity of 208. Our aim is to do justice to such a great venue by gathering the most enthusiastic, interested, passionate, and innovative talent from across the University and stage some of the top theatre in Cambridge. BATS stages 4 shows every Lent and Michaelmas term as well as its prestigious annual outdoor May-week Shakespeare performance. BATS is open to applications of all descriptions: from new writing to comedy, musicals to devised pieces, Shakespeare to contemporary drama... The main emphasis is upon putting on fun and creative shows in a friendly and unpretentious environment.

The Fitzpatrick Hall

Queens' College has it's own theatre space, the Fitzpatrick Hall (often just called 'the Fitzpat'), which is a modern and well-equipped venue that hosts a variety of shows and student events. The space can be transformed from a regular proscenium theatre, seating 208, to a black box space. The stage can also be raised and lowered, and configured in a variety of ways. Beneath the stage the Fitzpatrick Hall also holds the Cambridge costume store, which is managed by CUADC and BATS.

The current manager of the Fitzpatrick Hall is a member of college staff, Richard DeCordova, who can be contacted at: rd544@cam.ac.uk

Current Committee

The current co-presidents of BATS are Holly Mackinlay and Hope Whitehead. They can be contacted at ham36@cam.ac.uk and hw470@cam.ac.uk, respectively.
