The theatre intercom system (not to be confused with the Paging System), commonly referred to as cans, is a method of communication between the various technical departments on stage during a show. The nickname cans relates to the headset worn by the user.

Cans are typically worn by members of the stage management team (Stage Manager, Deputy Stage Manager, Assistant Stage Manager) and Technical Operators (Sound Designer, Lighting Designer) to communicate with each other during performance.
