ADC Management

Officially, ownership of the premises of the ADC Theatre is vested in a legal trust which leased the property to the University for 75 years from 1 August 1973. The ADC Theatre is managed as a non-school institution of the University of Cambridge and, as a full department, is staffed by a number of non-student University employees who keep things at the ADC Theatre and Corpus Playroom running smoothly. They are here to help and act to co-ordinate the activities of all those using the venues they manage.

Casual Staff

The Theatre Manager and Operations Manager in turn employ a number of casual staff to help with running the Box Office, serving behind the Bar, supporting Front of House operations and Duty Managing. Recruitment is usually done on a regular basis and those who are interested may apply via the Theatre's website at https://www.adctheatre.com/about-us/vacancies/.

Duty Managers are responsible for the theatre of an evening - both front of house and backstage safety - and will be the ones dealing with any issues shows have during performances. They are contactable by dialing 222 on any internal phone within the ADC or Playroom. They may be a member of management or a casual staff member.

Committee

The Management staff are overseen by the University Theatre Committee which is an official arm of the University (and not to be confused with any student club, society or committee). The Executive Committee and University Theatre Syndicate which formerly existed to serve this purpose have since been disbanded.

The University Theatre Committee is established and constituted by General Board Regulation per Ordinance 9 of the University Statutes & Ordinances. See Annex A of the Joint Report of the Council and the General Board on the disbanding of the University Theatre Syndicate in Reporter edition 6761 and the Notices by the General Board in Reporter edition 6772 for more details.

The Uni Theatre Committee mainly exists to be a supervisory body to ensure that ADC Management are meeting legal duties and making sound operational decisions. They are not involved in the day-to-day running of the theatre. Most students will have very little, if any, contact with them.

IT Volunteers

Behind the scenes, the ADC is indebted to a handful of volunteers who freely give up their time to help run the Theatre's IT systems. You may see them around the building from time to time, especially at weekends.
